How We Got Started:
Danville Office Equipment (DOE) was founded in 1951 by Jesse C. Shearer, a native of Lexington. Mr. Shearer and his wife, Zina, operated the store at its first location on Fourth Street in Danville. In 1966 the Shearer’s were joined by a partner, J. Carlton Brown. The business continued to grow and prosper, becoming the largest office supply store in the Danville area. In 1975, with the steady success and growth of the company, DOE moved to its present location at 233 West Main Street in Danville. In 1984, Ted Baker became the sole owner of DOE.
The Great Expansion:
Lebanon
With Ted's determination and drive, DOE expanded westward into Lebanon, KY. Kenny Shelby and company opened DOE Lebanon in 1981, and continue to serve the greater Lebanon area. Kenny has over 30 years of committed and dedicated service with DOE. With distinguished customer service, Kenny has made a name for not only himself, but for everyone here at Danville Office Equipment.
Somerset
In 2000, DOE opened a brand new store in Somerset, KY to round out our four locations. Dennis (Doc) Spangler took the reigns and has managed the store since day one. His knowledge and experience have helped DOE Somerset to blossom and better serve the Somerset community and beyond.
Meet the Owner:
To be a business owner, you must be: confident, driven, goal-oriented, passionate, and resilient. These are just a few attributes that describe Scott Bottoms. In 1992, Scott began his career at Danville Office Equipment in our accounting department. With his engaging personality and home-town roots, Scott was promoted to our sales department in 1996, and began calling on the local businesses of Danville. For six years, Scott began to interact with the Danville business area and establish himself as a successful and reliable connection for business solutions. In 2002, Scott's dedication to the company was recognized, and was promoted to President of the company to oversee the operations of all four store locations. His leadership and professionalism is known throughout the company, and our loyal customers appreciate the personal service that Scott stands for. In 2013, Ted Baker handed the keys over to Scott as the sole owner of DOE. With the motivation to maintain and grow, Scott is the driving force behind Danville Office Equipment.
